About Our Inn

Located in the heart of historic downtown Sturgeon Bay, The Foxglove Inn has a reputation of excellence. At first glance, the massive two-tier porch welcomes it’s guests and also encourages one to take a moment to view the wonders of the working waterfront, listen to the shorebirds, and perhaps catch a sunset.

The Inn has a reputation of genuine hospitality, delicious breakfasts and a comfortable atmosphere. With seven spacious suites to choose from, each offering private baths and fireplaces, it is difficult to pick a favorite. Each one has been carefully renovated to maintain the warmth and character of this 1877 beauty and offer guests the private, relaxing retreat they’re seeking. Luxury linens, sparkling whirlpool tubs, comfortable sitting areas and glowing chandeliers lend to the “comfortable luxury” atmosphere. All but one suite has in-room access to an outdoor sitting area on one of the Inn’s many porches, making that the perfect place to begin your day with a cup of coffee, or unwind in the evening with a glass of wine.

While many associate Bed and Breakfasts have communal spaces, this is where The Foxglove Inn sets itself apart. A full, made-from-scratch breakfast is delivered to each door in the morning for guests to dine in the privacy of their suites or on the porch just outside their door. Foxglove’s innkeepers are just a call away if needed. Foxglove’s exceptional attention to detail, warm hospitality and uniquely private suites, make the Inn a favorite choice for celebrating life’s most cherished events.

The Inn is walking distance to all that charming, “Main Street” (3rd Avenue) has to offer, from fantastic shops and restaurants to fabulous theater. There is private off-street parking and options to securely store guests’ bikes and gear. It’s an easy bike ride to our closest state park, Potawatomi, and short drive to some of Door County’s most iconic sites. Top rated among all of Door County’s lodging, it’s truly a special place.

Things To Do In Our Area

Door County is a year round paradise for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. Our 3 beautiful state parks provide miles of trails for hiking, biking, snowshoeing, and cross country skiing. The peninsula offers breathtaking views of the shoreline with public beaches, marinas, and the dramatic rocky bluffs of the Niagara Escarpment. Sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, parasailing, jet skiing, fishing, and even scuba diving the glorious waters of the bay, are all favorite activities of both visitors and locals. Catching the sun setting over the water is a nightly event in Door County.

It’s safe to say visitors probably leave Door County a few pounds heavier than when they arrived because it’s hard not to eat your way up the peninsula. From the amazing local farmer’s markets, artisan cheese makers, confectioneries and bakeries to the top notch restaurants, traditional fish boils, orchards and custard stands, there is something for everyone to enjoy. A visit to our many wineries, distilleries and breweries is another great way to add some local flavor to your getaway.

Door County is bursting at the seams with artistic talent, and it’s very much part of what makes the area so special. Galleries are speckled throughout the quaint waterfront towns and out on the countryside roads. At any given time you will likely come across a painter or photographer capturing a moment or scenic view. This area is also home to many amazing musicians that perform throughout the county and tour around the globe. Each year singer songwriters from all over the country pour into Sturgeon Bay for a week long collaboration of original music and live performances for Steel Bridge Songfest, which takes place in June. If live theater is your thing than a show at Peninsula Players, Northern Sky Theater, Third Avenue Playhouse (TAP) or Door Shakespeare is must! Most people are blown away by the level of quality and talent each production and theater company puts out. No matter where you go you will surely leave feeling awed and inspired.
