About Our Inn

The Stewart Inn is a beautiful five room inn in downtown Wausau, WI. The building was designed by world renowned architect, George Maher, a contemporary of Frank Lloyd Wright and one of the founders of the American Arts & Crafts movement. It is in near original condition and considered the most intact example of George Maher’s architecture in the country. The Inn has a very open, contemporary feel and features original chandeliers, sconces, stained glass windows, quartersawn oak paneling and a stunning glass mosaic fireplace. Each of the guest rooms has a clean upscale feel with private bath, luxury steam shower, deluxe beds and many high-tech amenities.

The Stewart Inn is co-located in Wausau’s downtown river district and the Andrew Warren historic district. Most of the shops, restaurants, nightclubs, museums and events in Wausau are within three to six blocks of the inn so parking and transportation are never an issue. Granite Peak, one of the top ski resorts in the Midwest, is five miles away.
